Book Projects for Independent Reading | Minilessons Rubrics and Checklists
Description
Do you want to keep student actively engaged in the classroom?
This Book Projects product will help students to develop independence when responding to books.
Book projects are a way to represent thinking before, during and after reading a text. This project will demonstrate and represent the kinds of thinking the student did while reading and provide relevant examples and items to reflect how the readers thinking changed.
Students have done much reading and responding to texts within discussions, small groups, conferences and within the readers notebook. Students have learned to monitor their own comprehension while reading. Theyve made connections and predictions while creating mental images about the text read. Theyve also learned to dig deeper into the text to make relevant inferences and draw important conclusions. Students have questioned texts and determined the most key details. Through all this reading comprehension work, readers have developed the reading comprehension strategy of synthesis because as they read, they gain more details; therefore, t thinking about the text grows and changes.
