Is it time for an INSTRUCTIONAL REFRESH?

Is it time for an INSTRUCTIONAL REFRESH?

What are you thinking about the NEW YEAR?

  • Do you want to set some goals for the new year?
  • Do you want to get a solid plan together for the new year?
  • Do you want to reflect and plan?

RETHINK ~ REFRESH ~ REVITALIZE

It's always a good time to make a plan!
It's always a good time to look ahead!
It's always a good time to create a vision for yourself!
It's always a good time to create a path for your learners to take!

I worked with a dream team of colleagues throughout my 20+ years as an educator.  We always had conversations about the actions we could take in the new year to self-reflect, refresh our instruction, and start things fresh each new year.

  • Are you stuck on the 'hamster wheel' of required tasks & initiatives set by campus & district administration?
  • Are you overwhelmed by ALL the standards & objectives you must cover before the end of the school year?
  • Are you feeling stressed about the school year?
  • Do you feel like you're just trying to keep your head above water?

Standards and objectives & required tasks and initiatives are not what your teaching life is about.
Yes, you have to address those items, but your learners are the heart and soul of what you do as an educator!

You want your learners to be reflective.
You want to give your learners what they need when they need it!
Because, after all, your learners are why you do what you do!

When you take the path your learners need, you will do more than just cover those standards and objectives!
Your learners will crush them!

What will you do for your learners and yourself this year?  What's your plan?

For YOUR LEARNERS, maybe you're wanting to guide them through being more reflective about improving as learners.
  • You want your learners to dig deeper into writing simple goals for themselves.
  • You want to provide your learners with tools to take charge of their own learning and improvement.
For YOURSELF,
  • maybe you want to get more reflective about your professional life and goals or
  • maybe you want to look ahead to create a long-term plan for your learners.
You've decided to hop off that hamster wheel and do what is best practice for you and your learners.

Create a long-term plan for your learners

✅ Long-term planning and looking ahead is always a good idea.
✅ Create a solid long-term plan to keep you focused for your weekly lesson planning.
✅ Create a big picture of what you want your readers (& writers) to achieve.
✅ Long-term planning can be for the entire school year OR one grading period, one semester, or one month at a time.

Get more reflective about your professional goals

🤔 Are you the kind of teacher who wants to keep learning and implementing new strategies that will directly impact your students?
🤔 Are you the kind of teacher who is wondering where your path as an educator is taking you?

✅ Maybe you just want to be more reflective about your professional life.
✅ When you decide to become more reflective, you will discover new ways to improve your teaching practices which will directly impact your students.
